HL0002: No water recycled in 5 days

Updated on 2025-08-01

It could be normal for no water being recycled by the Hydraloop for 5 days. But something could also be wrong. Please check the below causes in order.

Customer on vacation #

The customer could just be on vacation. This could explain no recycled water at all.

Checking toilets or washing machine usage on your own

There is a way to check through the HDM if they are on vacation. But only if the Hydraloop has toilets or a washing machine directly connected to it. In the “Graph” tab of the HDM you can look at the history of the usage.

IF they are on vacation, of-course the washing machine and toilet are not being used anymore. But if they are. Something else could be at play.

Please make sure to have your graph on a “Day” view. See image below.

Then make sure to look for any small green lines on the “Toilet” output. These could be toilet flushes.

It is important to check if this usage is significant enough to determine an actual toilet was flushed. Or if is was just a small leak in the pipework. As very small leaks are very common and normal, you need to check this. First zoom in by “dragging” with your mouse over the area with the flushed toilet you want to look at. When you release you “zoom in” this area. See below image.

When zoomed in, you will see much bigger the toilet being green. How long this “toilet flush” happened you can look at by again dragging. Drag from the beginning of the green line, to the end. Then look at the “black part”. DO NOT release the drag. But press ‘escape’ instead on PC. See below example image. A small leak takes about 1 second. This is 1m 27s. Which is definitely a toilet flush 🙂

Bathroom renovation or other construction related work preventing water usage #

Simply the Hydraloop can’t recycle if it won’t receive any water to recycle. A bathroom renovation is a possibility to take into account. Just as water supply being turned off.

Lift pump before Hydraloop not working #

If the Hydraloop installation has a liftpump before the Hydraloop. This pump can have stopped operating. Even though shower/bath water enters this liftpump, the pump won’t pump the water to the Hydraloop. But just lets it all overflow into the sewage directly.

Check the liftpump. Stand close to the pump when water starts running into it. Do you hear the pump periodically/constantly pump? No? Something wrong with the pump!

Lift pumps need periodic maintenance. Otherwise they might get clogged and stop working. Clean the inner parts to potentially fix the problem. Otherwise replace the pump.

Clogged inlet #

It is also possible the inlet right before the Hydraloop is clogged. Any water who wants to enter the Hydraloop will just go to the sewage instead. Periodic maintenance should prevent this problem.

You can look at the hdm if the water entering the Hydraloop enters slower and slower over time until it stopped entering. This is a good telltale that this is very likely the problem.

Clean the inlet from debris and try again. Watch out for all the water that might still be stuck in the tubing!

Hydraloop bypass valve malfunctioning #

The Hydraloop has a bypass valve on the top of the Hydraloop. If this valve won’t receive any power, to is broken in general, the water will never enter the Hydraloop. And just goes to sewage instead.
